S-OIL officers undertake crane protection activities in DMZ
Deliver gifts to front-line troops

- S-OIL CEO Subaey and officers provide feed for cranes and undertake other crane protection activities.

S-OIL Corporation’s management undertook crane protection activities in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province and delivered gifts to front-line troops.

On Feb. 20, S-OIL CEO Ahmed A. Subaey and some 30 officers visited a crane clinic in Jangheung-ri, Dongsong-eup, Cheorwon-gun. After learning the cultural and ecological value and importance of the crane (Natural Treasure No. 202), they went to the crane’s habitat near the Ice Cream Highland to feed cranes and carry out other diverse crane protection activities.

The S-OIL management also visited Cheorwon Peace Observatory and the 2nd Infiltration Tunnel, and then the 6th Division’s reconnaissance battalion, a unit on the central front line. They delivered large PDP TV, etc. to the front-line unit and expressed their gratitude to soldiers performing the mission of homeland security.

“It was so meaningful to me to do this voluntary work with our management in the DMZ, the symbol of peace and clean ecosystem,” said S-OIL CEO Subaey. “I also felt great to experience Korea’s front-line unit and beautiful nature in person.”

S-OIL is carrying out company-wide CSR activities, based on its three CSR programs to support local communities, heroes and the environment. In 2007, the company signed an agreement with Cultural Heritage Administration to protect natural treasures. It has since conducted a variety of environmental protection campaigns, which include providing feed for endangered species such as otters and cranes, protecting their habitats, and running an eco camp for employees’ families.
