Powering a Lower-Carbon Future at Sea

S-OIL Corporation has started supplying B30 VLSFO, a marine fuel containing 30% biofuel, in response to the global shipping industry's transition toward lower-carbon operations. B30 VLSFO, made from bio-based feedstocks such as used cooking oil, is hailed as the most practical low-carbon fuel capable of responding to decarbonization requirements by EU and IMO. 

S-OIL enjoys competitive edge on marine biofuels comes from the solid value chain in Ulsan where S-OIL’s Onsan Refinery is based. The value chain from feedstock sourcing to blending, storage and supply integrated in Ulsan and the broader area allows the Company to minimize logistics and take advantage of the supply infrastructure with greater efficiency. Furthermore, S-OIL Onsan Refinery’s close promixity to Ulsan Port, which is one of Korea’s key bunkering hubs, gives the Company an advantage in terms of prompt and reliable marine biofuel supply to customers.

Going forward, S-OIL will continue to expand its green fuel portfolio as part of its decarbonization journey and preemptively respond to the evolving environmental regulations.
