S-OIL Helps Female Migrants in Multicultural Families to Find Happiness

 

● S-OIL donated 50 million won to the Women Migrants Humanrights Center to help female migrants suffering domestic violence.


S-OIL(CEO Nasser Al-Mahasher) said on May 13 that the Company donated 50 million won to the Women Migrants Humanrights Center (Representative Han Kuk-yeom) in Soongin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul to reach out to female migrants suffering domestic violence as part of its “S-OIL Happy Together Campaign for Multicultural Families.”


The Women Migrants Humanrights Center runs shelters for female migrants and their children suffering domestic violence with the support of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family as well as operates counselling, education and psychical cure for female migrants. The donation given by S-OIL will be spent in offering daily necessities to those who left the facility so that they can stand on their own feet. It is also used to support counselors and interpreters/translators who help female migrants to return to society.


“S-OIL began to make a donation since 2013 as the first private company to help a growing number of female migrants suffering domestic violence to attain their mental stability and to return to society while 550 thousands or so female migrants reside in Korea,” said an S-OIL official. “We hope that our donation will contribute to protecting female migrants’ human rights and helping them to create happy families. We promise to become a solid supporter of them.”
