S-OIL Science Prodigy and Culture Foundation joins hands for “International Knowledge Donation”

● S-Oil helps retired scientists and technologists to systematically transfer their knowledge and know-how to developing and emerging economies.
● The refiner conducts knowledge donation activities such as mentoring program for foreign students in Korea.

The S-OIL Science Prodigy and Culture Foundation (SSPCF), a non-profit organization established by S-OIL (representative: Nasser Al-Mahasher), said on Sept. 24 that it will support “Encore Korea Project,” which was launched to transfer Korean veteran scientists’ and technologists’ know-how and knowledge overseas.

The Encore Korea Project is an “International Knowledge Donation” program aimed at systematically transferring to developing and emerging economies the know-how and knowledge of veteran scientist and technologists who retired after dedicating themselves to promoting the development of science and technology of Korea in government-funded institutes, universities and corporations, etc.

To this end, the SSPCF donated 300 mil. won to the Korea Technology and Research Institute, which organized the project. The donation will be used for the establishment of an integrated database by specialized area of retired scientists, the development of customized projects for countries to receive support, and overseas volunteer activities of retired scientists.

Also, as part of the Encore Korea Project, foreign students staying in Korea will be provided an opportunity of participating in a mentoring program. Last weekend on Sept 22, the SSPCF held the Mentoring Forum for Foreign Students at its head office in Mapo, Seoul and introduced retired scientists, university professors, and entrepreneurs who volunteered to be mentors to 40 or so foreign students from China, India, Vietnam, and Malaysia, etc. so that mentors can continuously help them in learning and seeking jobs and internships.

The non-profit SSPCF was established in 2011 in order to foster outstanding talent, who will become the next generation of leaders of our society, through support of academic research, a scholarship program, and an international exchange program as part of its effort to return corporate profits to society.
