On Sept. 16, S-OIL held its “Sharing Songpyeon (traditional Korean half-moon-shaped rice cakes) with S-OIL” charity event at its headquarters in Mapo-gu ahead of the Chuseok holiday, in partnership with the Loveaid Foundation Community Welfare Center.
On the day, the CEO and some 80 employees prepared 450 Chuseok gift packages worth a combined 50 million won and delivered them to low-income households near the Company’s headquarters in Gongdeok-dong. The event was especially meaningful as it brought together not only employees but also Saudi students studying in Korea and children from the company’s daycare center. Since 2007, S-OIL has held its annual “Sharing Songpyeon with S-OIL” volunteer event during the Chuseok season to share the warmth of the holiday with underprivileged members of the local community.
“I understand that Chuseok is a special holiday in Korea for sharing warmth and affection with our neighbors,” CEO Anwar A. Al-Hejazi said. “S-OIL also hopes to bring comfort and hope to underprivileged members of the local community through this heartfelt gesture. I hope everyone enjoys a happy Chuseok holiday.”
